"The largest high relief sculpture in the world, the Confederate Memorial Carving, depicts three Confederate heroes of the Civil War, President Jefferson Davis and Generals Robert E. Lee and Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson. The entire carved surface measures three-acres, larger than a football field and Mount Rushmore. The carving of the three men towers 400 feet above the ground, measures 90 by 190 feet, and is recessed 42 feet into the mountain. The deepest point of the carving is at Lee's elbow, which is 12 feet to the mountain's surface." The Neal headstone/statue is one of the most popular at the Oakland Cemetery in Atlanta, GA. There's so much detail and story behind the sculpture. Googling the statue can give you a lot of information on the history of it. I know this type of photography isn't really what sells or what most people want to see, but I just love historic sculptures like this - I wish there were more of them. Taken at Historic Oakland Cemetery in Atlanta, GA.
Stone Mountain Park puts on a nightly Lasershow with fireworks and music. It is a really awesome display and fun for the whole family.
